Probably Stolen Factions: All Six and Their Limits

This Probably Stolen factions guide lists all six station groups, what reputation buys, the -100 endings each can trigger and the rare 200-reputation reward.

Probably Stolen tracks six factions — Lower Levels, Upper Levels, Security, Black Market, Revolution and Sector 13 Cartel — and five of them can end your run at -100 reputation (one of the five only single-sourced). India Times' endings guide lists all six; the store page's warning sits behind all of them: reputation buys access and protection, but it also paints a target on your back.

The six factions

FactionWhere it bites you at -100Source
Lower LevelsLynched — a mob storms the store and throws you out of the airlockIndia Times
Upper LevelsAssassinated — a hired hitman (not yet verified — India Times is the only source that lists this ending)India Times
SecurityFramed — arrested on opening regardless of evidenceIndia Times, Wikily
RevolutionBombed — a bomb on the counter on openingIndia Times, Wikily
Sector 13 CartelRetired — a Cartel hitman forces you out of the businessIndia Times, Wikily
Black MarketNo -100 ending is listed in the sources this site usedIndia Times

Wikily counts 15 endings and omits the Assassinated ending India Times describes, which is why the Upper Levels row is flagged above; Destructoid's endings guide also lists 15, though its headline says 17. The full trigger table, including the case-value thresholds behind the Security endings, is in the endings guide.

What reputation does day to day

Tpose Gaming's summary: high reputation with a group makes them more generous, less likely to scam you and more willing to buy; low reputation means higher prices, fewer deals and more trouble. IGN adds the practical levers — barter in the customer's favor sometimes, or go out of your way to trade with a faction's representatives, and the standing rises.

Two habits keep the numbers visible:

  • Watch the Feedback Box on the left of the door, IGN's recommended habit — it shows reputation moving after each deal.
  • Remember that wanted criminals belong to factions. Reporting one loses you standing with their group, IGN warns. Into Indie Games' day-three run is the worked example: the wanted Arthur Lefleur offered to put in a good word with the Revolution if the writer let him go, and the bounty was the lowest on the list.

The 200-reputation reward

Reputation can climb to 200, India Times reports, and reaching it earns the Diplomatic achievement — 19.9% of players globally have it, per Steam's stats. India Times attributes the achievement to reputation 200 without specifying whether one faction suffices (not yet verified).

Lou, the Black Market and the 1,500-credit bounty

Lou is the game's headline Black Market storyline. India Times describes her arc: she appears on the Wanted poster with the station's largest listed bounty of 1,500 credits, her storyline opens only after you buy the Business Permit, and it builds through a weapon or tool request, a box she leaves at your store, a disguised visit, and a final demand for 1,500 credits — with two separate Bombed endings if you cross her or can't pay. Reporting her to Security to claim the bounty is the alternative, and since launch hotfix 1.0.0.1 the developer confirms reporting Lou no longer lowers your Black Market reputation.

The 1.0 release notes name the other completed storylines: criminal mastermind Lou, Eleanor, Officer Lun and cadet Serpico, plus expanded backstories for wanted-list characters including Butcher.

Augs: the one policy every faction shares

Augs are people taken over by a rogue sentient AI chip — they "look like everyone else… until they don't", per the store page. Every faction agrees on the policy, and you carry the gun that enforces it. IGN's instruction is unambiguous: once you confirm an Aug, kill it on sight; missing the signs, or misreading them, carries its own price. The Aug Menace starting perk (India Times) pays 25% more credits per Aug kill but makes the threat never end — let Aug presence reach 100% and the run ends. The perk's exact interaction with difficulty is still being documented (Wikily ties the 100% trigger to specific difficulties) (not yet verified).

The Cartel's Monday quota

Chemist players inherit the Sector 13 Cartel as a second landlord: IGN notes the Chemist begins "having to work for the Cartel". Wikily documents the schedule — a handler visits every Monday, the first quota is 10 Dream Dust at 40 purity, each week adds 5 units and 5 purity up to 70, and every missing unit costs 4 Cartel reputation. Wikily also reports that failing a handover, delivering no Dream Dust, or averaging below a quarter of the required purity triggers the Retired ending. Wikily ties that quota machinery to Chemist runs, while India Times lists the same ending at -100 Cartel reputation for any run — two routes to one exit, not a disagreement. The bench work that meets the quota — Dream Dust and caffeine pill recipes — is covered in the Chemist start guide.
