Probably Stolen Endings: Every Way a Run Can End

This Probably Stolen endings guide lists both Buyout wins and every loss trigger we found: rent, Security cases, faction reputation, Lou and starting perks.

Probably Stolen has two winning Buyout endings — buy the deed from the Landlord or pay off the Loan Shark's mortgage — and a stack of ways to lose everything. How many endings exist depends on who counts: Wikily documents 15, while India Times counts 17 by adding Assassinated (Upper Levels reputation at -100) and No Permit. Destructoid's headline says 17 but its own table lists 15. This guide lists every distinct trigger the sources describe and flags the single-sourced ones.

The two winning Buyout endings

Both wins make the store yours, unlock the Keys to the Kingdom achievement, show the run summary, and offer Continue so you can keep playing without the rent countdown (India Times).

  • Buyout (deed): on a rent day, if your cash covers the price, the Landlord's dialogue offers "Buyout the store" alongside paying rent. The property value rises slightly each day, so earlier is cheaper. The Calendar lists the current value — 12,000 credits on day one at Mark Up.
  • Buyout (mortgage): take the Loan Shark's mortgage and pay it off in full. Miss a weekly payment and he seizes stock up to the amount owed (leaving a Repo Slip); if the stock can't cover it, the run ends in Repossession.

Lou's storyline only opens after you buy the Business Permit, India Times notes — the same permit the No Permit ending hinges on. Her Wanted-poster bounty is the largest listed at 1,500 credits, and reporting her to Security is the alternative to paying.

The numbers behind the three perk endings

Wikily's ending texts carry exact mechanics the other guides don't publish — all community-documented (not yet verified against official figures):

  • Meltdown: the Makeshift Reactor starts at 100 integrity, loses 18 a night (minus 1 per upgrade), gives no power at 25 or less, and the night log warns you the night before it explodes.
  • Sentinel Collapse: each night beyond 7 days without an injection adds 1 to a hidden count (2 from 10 days, 3 from 14); at 20 the run ends. A genuine injector resets the days, but the count never goes down.
  • Augmented: Aug presence starts at 15 when the shotgun unlocks, and each Aug left alive or shot moves it by the difficulty's values.

The developer's 1.0 announcement adds one plain warning of its own: "Do not play with Sentinel Collapse Disorder on your first run. Seriously, don't."

What the run summary shows

After any ending, the summary records your specialization, the ending's short name and difficulty across six tabs, India Times reports: Overview (days survived, wealth, best day, best flip, biggest sale, best find), Credits (sales, purchases, vending income, graphs), Expenses (rent, power, janitorial, insurance, buyout progress, permit), Station (customers and faction standing), Nights Out, and Security (inspections, seizures, bribes, burglaries, wanted criminals caught out of nine, wrongful reports, Augs shot). A finished run stays in its save slot, so Load Game returns you to the last autosave.

Does the game actually end?

Before launch, the Steam discussion "Is There an End?" shows the question being settled in real time: a player reports the game "ends" when you buy the property from the Landlord. The 1.0 announcement later made it official — buying the store is the ending, followed by a stats screen with your most profitable sale, days survived, total worth and perks, plus the Continue option. The Difficulty screen's Endless Mode skips the scripted conclusion instead — its description warns certain scripted events and customers will not spawn (India Times).

Win-linked achievements — Keys to the Kingdom, Prodigious (before day 50), From Nothing and From Nothing, the Hard Way (Rock Bottom runs), and Clean Hands (no stolen goods or contraband ever sold) — are listed with their global unlock rates in the achievements guide.
